Enjoy the warm-fuzzy feeling of
accomplishment and love you get from saving the lives of innocent
Beagles & Hounds. Bringing a foster dog into your home is
often the first and most important step in giving them a new lease
on life.
Many of our dogs have
suffered from abuse and neglect, and they need to learn to trust
humans again, and know that they are safe and loved. It is
very rewarding to see a dog's personality come alive when this
happens.
Houston Beagle & Hound Rescue will pay for
all supplies and medical care the dogs need, including but not
limited to neutering/spaying, routine shots, and other possible
surgeries.
A Foster Volunteer's responsibilities are:
- Provide Food and Water
- Provide Indoor Shelter
- Provide Love and Socialization
- Communicate with HBHR Volunteers.
- Commitment to foster the dog until he/she
is adopted.
- Evaluate the dog while in your care so HBHR can determine the right placement for him/her. It
will be necessary to expose the dog to a variety of situations
(i.e., cats, children, strangers, other dogs, etc.). It
won't take you long to figure out how secure the dog is, if
he/she is friendly, laid-back, active, good on walks, etc.
If you do decide to become a foster and you
have other dogs in your home, please be certain that inoculations
on your dogs are kept current.
