BEAGLES
SEIZED BY SPCA
MICKEY
Mickey is
doing well in his foster home. When first rescued, he
was considered the "fattest" of the beagles seized by the
SPCA. He is still underweight and undernourished, but
is eating like a true beagle, and should gain weight pretty
quickly.
Like the other seized
beagles, Mickey has heartworms and will have to be treated
in a few weeks when he is healthy enough. He will also
need a dental, as his teeth are in terrible condition.
Also like the other seized
beagles, Mickey was not used to being inside a home, but has
gotten used to it quite nicely. He is doing VERY well
with his housetraining, and is quiet in his crate most of
the time (especially at bedtime). He is very curious
and likes to explore and sniff everything inside his foster
home. He also likes to look at his reflection in the
oven door.
He LOVES human attention, and
also gets along very well with the other two beagles in his
foster home. He loves being in the back yard, but
likes going back inside when his foster mom goes back
inside. He's never too far from his foster mom.
As most blueticks, he is VERY
sweet and affectionate.
UPDATE
(November
23rd): Mickey is doing GREAT!! He has really come out
of his shell. He is VERY playful, and loves his
"hedgehog" toy and claimed it as his own. He also
likes to just lay around, which is a nice balance to the
playfulness. He has a great personality - quite a
character. He is very loving and sweet.
He has gained a
bit of weight, and is pretty much at his "ideal" weight.
He just had a dental, and had to have a couple of teeth
removed, and a bit of oral surgery, but he is still very
handsome. He will be getting his heartworm treatment
in January. He is doing VERY well with his house-training
and has free-run of the house most of the time now.
UPDATE (January 14th): Mickey
had his heartworm treatment on January 8th. He is
doing great, and still just loving life. He is still
quite a character, and so cuddly and sweet. He LOVES
humans, but gets along well with the other beagles in the
house. He will be ready to look for his "forever" home
in February.
Mickey has also decided he
likes sleeping in the bed with his foster mom at night, so
he is no longer crated at night. He prefers to snuggle
right up, and just snores away happily until morning.
UPDATE (January 29th):
Mickey has done very well with his heartworm treatment.
UPDATE (February 18th): Mickey is healthy and
ready to go to his forever home!!
UPDATE (March 9th): Mickey went to his new
forever home on Wednesday, march 5th!
