 I
fell in love with the beagle breed while working in an
animal clinic. Once we had a house of our own I convinced my
husband that Beagles are a great breed and that we needed
one. We searched for weeks until we found the perfect
one at the SPCA - Dallas. We absolutely loved him and within
a few months we decided that he need a house mate.
We were unable to find any beagles in the area, but we
stumbled upon Houston Beagle & Hound Rescue. We sent in our
application the day before thanksgiving 2001. That same day
we got a response from Sandra. She said that after the
holidays she had a few people coming to see the beagles that
she was fostering so if we wanted to have first pick we
would have to come that day.
We left our house in Fort Worth and at Midnight arrived
in Houston. We got to meet all the dogs and take them for a
walk. We even brought our dog with us so that he could help
make the decision on which dog to adopt. We fell in Love
with a two year old female named Shelby, and brought her
home that night.
