Below are some of the things we regularly need help with. It is just a partial list. If you have a skill that is not listed, please let us know.
Event Volunteers – Assist at planned events throughout the year. Opportunities include hosting events, talking with the public about the beagle breed, wrangling beagles at the monthly Meet & Greets, etc.
Beagle Bungalow Volunteers – Help socialize the bungalow dogs! They all need special attention from walks to just sitting on the couch for some cuddle time. Baths, ear cleaning, and trimming nails are not as much fun, but needed chores. All human interaction helps get them socialized and ready for their forever homes! Also, other volunteer opportunities include beagle room and yard cleanup duty, and Beagle laundry.
Adoption Follow-Up Volunteers – Call adopters to check and see how adopted dogs from Beagle Rescue are doing. Calls are placed at intervals of two weeks, three months, six months, one year, and two years. Training will be provided in advance.
Marketing Volunteers – Aid in finding new venues to advertise Houston Beagle Rescue; assist in designing any tool that can be used to market HBHR. Research and assist with ideas for new fundraising venues. Secure new locations for Meet & Greets and event promotion.
Vacation Foster Volunteers – Take foster dogs into your home for a few days or a week while the permanent foster family goes on vacation. Beagle experience is necessary.
Photographers and Creative Writers – Assist with write-ups for available dogs and take quality photographs of the foster dogs. Must be able to “interview” foster parent and visit their home.
Artists and Graphic Artists – Design new ideas for t-shirts, magnets, mugs, etc.
Fund-raising Volunteers – Research available grants, donation drives, and solicit donations through letter writing, emails, and personal contact.
Transport Volunteers – Safe drivers are needed to transport dogs from shelters, foster homes, and transport them to vet clinics; or transport dogs to monthly Meet & Greet events for the foster parent, when needed.
